Changi International Airport

Served by 79 airlines with more than 4,432 flights to 189 cities, Changi International Airport ranks as one of the top 20 airports in the world. When airport authorities decided to replace an analog CCTV system at Terminal 2 in 2005, they carried out a rigorous evaluation of the technology options available to them. A solution from Cieffe, the Milan-based company acquired by March Networks, won hands down.

The Challenge
When security managers at Singapore’s Changi International Airport decided to replace an aging analog CCTV system at its 358,000-square meter Terminal 2 with a digital video surveillance system, they insisted on a thorough evaluation of the options available to them. Video quality, system scalability and video analytics were high on their priority list.

The Solution
After a thorough equipment demonstration and system performance evaluation, Changi security managers selected a system from Cieffe, the Milan-based video surveillance supplier acquired by March Networks. The system consists of hundreds of analog cameras linked to a terminal-wide fiber network by single channel encoders. Video is recorded, stored on RAID units and displayed on 50 monitors in a security operations center.
